New winter ice rates as of January

There are going to be new winter ice rental rates in Timmins.
City council approved the new rates effective Jan. 2. Officials say the new $155 “Prime” rate, or 5 pm to Midnight, and $125 “Non-Prime” rate, or 7 am to 5 pm, will be for both adults and youth.
The change supports the City’s new online recreation software that also launches in January, giving residents the option to book ice rentals, swimming lessons, and more on one website.
The new rates will apply year-round, and officials say ice users who have already booked their rental times will pay their existing fees until the end of the season, March 31.
Pre-school and adult skates Monday to Friday will remain free. Officials hope the new simplified price and booking system will encourage future ice rentals.
