The Timmins Police Service is issuing an advisory involving an apparent fraudulent phone campaign currently underway in the Timmins area.
Police say scammers are using phone numbers displaying a Timmins area exchange — claiming to be with the security section of a bank or other financial institution advising of unusual banking activity.
Residents are advised to check with their banking institution and not to provide any personal banking information.
