Cigarette robber sought by Timmins Police

A man who just might have really needed a smoke early Tuesday morning resorted to robbery to get it.

Timmins police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says the man went into an Algonquin Boulevard West convenience store, flashed a weapon and demanded some cigarettes.

He was caught on security camera.

“The suspect however is described as a heavyset male Caucasian, wearing a sweater that is white on top, black on the bottom and a horizontal grey stripe in the middle,” Depatie says.  “Suspect was also wearing black shorts and a black face covering.”

The man fled on foot.

“This happened at five in the morning,” observes Depatie. “Relatively few people would be out at that time, so any persons who might have observed somebody acting suspiciously or scurrying away, that information is of vital use to the police to determine the identity of this suspect.”

If you recognize the robber, you’re asked to call Timmins Police or Crime Stoppers.
