Health care meeting coming up Saturday

Your chance to join the push-back to the Doug Ford government’s health care funding plans comes up this weekend at the Timmins museum.

Ed Stecewicz is trying to organize a chapter of the Ontario Health Coalition in this region.  The provincial group is participating in a town hall style meeting he’s organizing for 11:00am Saturday.

“We’re going to have a panel there with a person from Toronto,” Stecewicz says, “and a local nurse and a local person from Canadian Mental Health taking questions from the audience, and discussing things that are going on with our health care.”

Stecewicz fears that the province is moving towards two-tier health care, dividing us into the haves and the have nots.

And since Timmins is the regional hub for health care, he hopes to attract interest from the outlying towns, too.

“Yes, for sure”, he says. “And we’d like to invite people from say Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls.  Being a weekend, if they’re coming to Timmins for something or they’re interested in this meeting, please come at eleven o’clock on Saturday, April 6th.”
