Working on filling jobs with immigrants

Timmins Chamber of Commerce members having trouble finding candidates to fill jobs in their businesses have an opportunity next Wednesday morning… to hear from an immigration consultant with a background in human resources and staffing.

Anthony Lawley has worked with Timmins and Sudbury to submit an application for a federal pilot project aimed at expediting the hiring of foreign workers.

“I will definitely be speaking about that program and some of the opportunities that do exist for government support with regards to the hire of foreign workers and their integration not just into the workplace, but also into the community,” he says.

Lawley has direct access to prospective immigrants with the skilled trades training that’s lacking across the north.

”We’ve taken a pretty specific approach with regards to finding workers that have the skill sets that Canadian employers are looking for.”

Wednesday’s session is free to chamber members.
