That’s according to the NDP Employment Critic, Wayne Gates. Gates says Stats Can is showing 34-thousand people have lost their jobs, with Northern Ontario being hit the hardest. Unemployment rates in Ontario have gone up to seven percent, which is above the national average. Gates says Ontario needs a strategy to not only keep jobs, but create them.
