Lace up the skates, it’s time for ringette under COVID-19 safety protocols

There will be a ringette season in Timmins, and it will start next Tuesday, September 8th.

Timmins Ringette Association president Marie-Eve Couture says her group has been working closely on COVID-19 safety protocols with Ringette Ontario, the city and the health unit.

“The protocol will be for the players to get dressed in the parking lot and from there, will proceed to line up at the door to the arena with the skates in their hands, their sticks in their hands and their water bottles in their hands,” she outlines.

Parents will be allowed in to help tie skates, but cannot stay for practices and games.

“For now, we are not letting spectators inside,” Couture adds. “That is a local policy here with the local arena.” That could change by next Tuesday.  The city is revising its health protocols for arenas.  Couture says a final power point presentation will be sent to coaches and parents.
