It’s a milestone year for the Terry Fox Run,and a year when the activity will be done like never before.
Timmins run chairperson Cathy Davis says it will be a virtual event on September 20th with the theme “One Day Your Way”.
“We’re just asking people to just be mindful that it’s our 40th anniversary,” Davis remarks. “We want to keep the Marathon of Hope alive, especially here in Timmins. We’ve never missed a year.”
A formal group activity at Gillies Lake isn’t being planned, although Davis says an impromptu one is possible.
Regardless, Davis notes that you can get your own group going, even from a distance.
“Some families they’re not together even in their cities, but they get together across even Canada, and they do their virtual event all together.”
Davis adds that some groups have been doing that for several years.
