Laforest Road will be repaved this summer, from Airport Road to MacLean Drive.
Council has approved the $2.1-million project, which could start within days.
Engineering and public works director Pat Séguin told Tuesday night’s council meeting why the work doesn’t go all the way to Highway 655.
“The rest was done in I believe it was in 2006 and it’s in fair condition. So it’s not an issue at this point,” he said.
One lane will be left open during the work.
“As far as the schedule, we haven’t received one yet,” Séguin reported. “We usually get that once we award it to the contractor. But I suspect three kilometres of highway, we probably have I would say four to six weeks.”
Laforest will serve as a bypass, when the next major work is done on Algonquin Boulevard.
