Hotline established to connect Timmins businesses to govt. COVID-19 funding

Some local business owners apparently still don’t know where or how to get COVID-19 relief money from the federal and provincial governments.  So the joint business continuity and recovery committee formed by the city and the chamber of commerce has set up a hotline.

Economic Development Corporation CEO Christy Marinig says it’s a type of clearing house.

“We’re funneling all the calls to the TEDC and our staff will then go through their situation and provide recommendations on where they may be able to go for financing, grants or loans,” Marinig explains.

She says an owner can also call if they’re contemplating growing their business.

“This is the perfect time for them to think about expansion plans and we will help them access NOHFC and FedNor possible funding sources to move their project forward.”

The City and Chamber Joint Business Continuity Recovery Advisory Task Force partners include The Downtown Timmins Business Improvement Association, The Venture Centre, Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board, FedNor, and the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines.

Contact the TEDC at 705-360-2656 or mailto: [email protected]  for support including:

-Getting your business online.

-Accessing wage subsidies and low-interest loans.

-Securing funds for PPE and plexiglass installation.

-Addressing supply chain management gaps.

-Launching your productivity analysis.

-Acquiring professional services.
