Front line workers plan five-day drive to collect personal protective equipment

Organizers of a personal protective equipment drive in Timmins call it “a local initiative by frontline workers for frontline workers”.

Dr. Julie Samson says it runs from Saturday until next Wednesday between 8:00am and 8:00pm, at the ambulance base on Algonquin Boulevard, across from Hollinger Park.

“So it’s actually community and hospital staff including nurses and physicians and nurse practitioners from the community that are helping out, led by a group of physicians as well,” she says.

There isn’t currently a PPE shortage in Timmins. Samson says it’s week-to-week,  and she notes that there have been shortages in other parts of the country.

“For that reason, we need to mobilize inventory in our community to be able to help our front line workers.”

A lot things on the list of what they’re looking for would only be available from businesses.  But if you look at it below, you’ll see that you might have some of them in your home.
