There’s a right way to report groups of more than five people and a wrong way; a right number to call, and a wrong one.
Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier outlined it to Tuesday’s update by the mayor’s health table.
“I’m requesting that all people who have those types of complaints to call our regular police number at 705-264-1201, to refrain from using 9-1-1,” he said. “ 9-1-1 is specific to emergency calls and we want to keep it that way.”
Gauthier says the department will continue to prioritize calls.
“The higher the emergency, then we’ll respond to those calls for service first, but we will answer your calls.”

Reports of unauthorized businesses being open are to be reported to Service Timmins.
