‘Short term pain for long term gain’: Slow traffic during lane marking work

It’s frustrating enough dealing with lane reductions on the road during construction season.

Add on top of that unexpected repair or construction jobs  and things like workers painting lines and arrows.  That was a complaint from Riverside Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie notes that it’s all part of the motoring landscape, and points out that those workers are doing their jobs in a hazardous situation.

“The imperative is that the motorist be patient and obey the traffic signalman if there is one in place, to make sure that they reach their destination safely and nobody’s safety is jeopardized,” says Depatie. ”These road markings make our roadways that much safer and it clearly indicates what lane we should be in.  So it’s short term pain for long term gain.”
