Rock on the River experiences growth in ticket sales, corporate support

Rock on the River comes back to Timmins this coming weekend… and organizers are already smiling.

Timmins Festivals and Events Committee chairman John Olaveson says ticket sales are going great.

“They’re up from last year again, so that’s really nice,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com,  “and also our corporate sponsorship is up even more. Corporate’s up 30-35%, so that’s really nice to see in our fourth year and ticket sales as well as this time are up about 20% from last year.”

Olaveson says having the business community step up is needed for Rock on the River to keep growing.

“Even in kind.  There’s businesses that are offering their workers and their equipment to help us tear down and set up.  You know, we’re just too small of an organization to do all that work, so it really helps us for years to come as we grow, we’re going to need those contributions by he businesses.”

Rock on the River opens Friday, with Tim Hicks and the Sheepdogs headlining.  The big act featured Saturday is Theory.
