The Mattagami River is now the subject of a flood watch.
Much like a weather watch, the flood watch is an advisory that the potential for flooding exists.
Conservation authority general manager David Vallier (VAL-yur) says the water continues to rise on the river… and could reach first-stage flood level over the coming days. That’s when low-lying areas would start flooding.
Earlier in the week, a flood watch was instated for Porcupine Lake and the Porcupine River.
