Load restriction on Timmins roads takes effect Monday

Spring has a solid grip on us, and roads are beginning to thaw, so the City of Timmins is instituting its annual reduced load limits on several roads.

Public works manager Ken Krcel says it takes effect on Monday.

“There’s a specific list of roads that are affected by this,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.   “They’re basically most of our rural roads and out in the east and west portion of the city and some of our roads that lead out to cottage areas.”

Commercial vehicles, dump trucks, logging trucks and ore trucks are restricted to five tonnes per axle.

Krcel says the bylaw governing the restriction allows it to be instated on March 1st… but this year’s conditions didn’t make it necessary until April 1st.

The restriction is in effect until mid-June.
