City to honour former councillor after his passing

The flags at Timmins City Hall will be lowered today (Monday) for a week in honour of former City Councillor John Stephen Adams. The 79-year-old passed away in Stittsville.

Adams moved to Timmins in 1969 to teach at Timmins High and Vocational School. He served as a math and economics teacher for 21 years, taking pride in his work as an educator. In 2010 he was elected to serve as a member of council, representing Ward 5.

A release from the city says Adams exemplified the spirit of community. He worked to improve the lives of those around him and considered it a privilege to help serve the city that had offered his family a home for many years.

The city is extending their condolences to the Adams family, including his wife Wendy, son John, and grandchildren.
