Chamber celebrates the best of the community with the 2024 Nova Awards

For the 22nd time, the McIntyre Arena was the site of the largest business awards gala north of Toronto on Thursday night.

More than 700 people attended the 2024 Nova awards, presented by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce. The cooking theme was called “Celebrating the Recipe for Success”, and 15 awards were presented.

Taking the National Bank Innovation award was Cedar Meadows Resort and Wildlife Park.

It’s for “Sleeping with Wolves”, which owner Richard Lafleur says represents northern wildlife among the bright stars.

“We created a glass bedroom inside the wolf compound,” he told the crowd, “where people can sleep with wolves, all under the natural conditions and to a natural Northern Ontario setting.”

Cedar Meadows general manager accepted the plaque.

“If you have a dream, follow it,” he remarked. “You can make it happen if you believe in yourself and believe in your vision.”

The most prestigious President’s Award went to NPLH Drilling for its many contributions to the community.
