Cathedral looking for ushers to help mass comply with COVID-19 restrictions

St. Anthony’s Cathedral is looking for volunteers to help the church comply with COVID-19 regulations at mass.

Parishioner and volunteer Suzanne Sorochan says she needs people who will provide ushering and hand sanitizing duties.

“What we’re looking for now is to expand our volunteer base so that we can work on a rotational basis so that not everybody is not working every week at every mass,” Sorochan tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

She adds that the ushers ensure physical distancing in the pews.

“If families come together, they can sit as a bubble,” she explains. “However, those who come separately then they have to sit in a different spot. So it’s to make sure that the parishioners are sitting properly.”

And Sorochan says the ushers have to maintain a count, so that a maximum of between 100 and 125 people are in the church at one time.
