Crime Stoppers: Don’t give us your name

Submitted by Michelle Simard, coordinator, Cochrane District Crime Stoppers

Cochrane District Crime Stoppers are pleased to facilitate the use of social media to help your local police agencies solve crime.

Crime Stoppers’ priority is our commitment to protecting the identity of our tipsters.  We encourage the use and review of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter however, do not post tips directly on the sites.  Our tipsters are reminded that if you identify yourself we cannot use your tip; that’s our promise to protect your identity.

Tipsters have assisted Crime Stopper Programs in Ontario recover millions of dollars in cash, drugs and property.  We count on you, the public for this information in reporting and solving crimes and it would be a shame for that information to be become unusable.

We’re taking this opportunity to remind the public that the correct and only way for tips to be reported is to call Crime Stoppers a 1-800-222-TIPS or provide your tip on-line at www.p3tips.com

If your information leads to solving a case you could earn up to $2000 in cash.  You will remain anonymous and won’t have to testify in court.

Crime Stoppers is your program.  Use it to its full potential.
