Red Kettle Campaign looking for volunteers, only a 2-hour commitment

Even though you’re using a debit or credit card for Christmas shopping this year, you might want to keep some cash in your pocket.  Chances are, you’ll encounter a Salvation Army red kettle.

Timmins coordinator for the annual campaign, Tina Walsh, says she needs volunteers to staff the kettles until Christmas Eve.

“A commitment for two hours whenever they want to do on kettles, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,” she says. “Hopefully if I get enough people we’re going to be at Walmart, Independent and Food Basics.”

There will be a barrier between the person at the kettle and anyone wanting to donate.  All other COVID-19 protocols will also be in place.  To volunteer, contact Tina Walsh at 705-288-5565.

The Salvation Army also has a toy drive underway.  You can drop off donations at 259 Third Avenue from Monday to Friday, nine in the morning until three in the afternoon.

To apply for your kids to benefit from the toy drive, call the Salvation Army office.
