A Porter plan could mean cheaper flights for Timmins customers

Porter customers at the Victor M. Power could be getting a break on the cost of flights. The airline is asking for support from Timmins, to lobby Toronto to allow them to extend their runway. This is to allow CS 100 “Whisper Jets” to take off and land at the island airport.

Councillor Pat Bamford says this initiative is only good news for Timmins. He says the company has been very good for the city, bringing in business supervisors who couldn’t afford to get to the city before. He says it’s helped businesses expand, and Porter has been important to the local economy.

Porter says if Toronto allows them to extend the runway, they will be able to add routes to their line-up, which will end up lowering airfare all together. Timmins voted in a special meeting this week to support Porter’s plan.
