NEOFACS recruiting foster families

It’s National Foster Families Appreciation Week and Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services is looking for new caregivers in Cochrane and Timiskaming Districts.

NEOFACS service manager Angie Gignac says there’s a virtual information session next Wednesday between 11:00am and 2:00pm.

“You can pop in anytime during that timeframe, leave anytime, ask as many questions as like or disconnect,” she tells us.

Right now, NEOFACS has 30 foster homes in our region, accounting for about 110 kids and youth in care.

“We are looking for more foster caregivers across the region in our efforts to keep our children and youth close to home, connected to their families, communities and culture,” Gignac notes.

There are a couple ways to learn more about being a foster family. Listen to the full interview with Angie Gignac posted below; go to the NEOFACS website; or participate in that virtual information session.
