UPDATE AT 9:45pm: The water is back on. However, City Hall says it could take a few hours before it’s fully restored.

UPDATE AT 5:00pm: Looks like it’ll be tomorrow morning before water is coming out of the taps west of the Mattagami Bridge again.
In an update, the city says it won’t be restored until late this evening, after ten o’clock, with full restoration by morning. That’s when a boil water advisory takes effect, likely until the weekend.
This whole situation was caused by a water main that ruptured during work to line water mains serving Mountjoy Township.
A depot for clean water is open at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex until eight o’clock tonight. City staff is on site to help refill whatever reusable bottles, jugs and containers you bring.
It will be later today – the city is estimating 4:00pm – before the water is back on, west of the bridge. When it is, there will be a boil water advisory in effect.
Work to reline the water mains along Riverside Drive resulted in a main rupturing yesterday, hence all the water on the road.
While you’re waiting for the restoration of water, you can fill whatever containers you have at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex. City staff is on hand to help with that.
Here are details on the boil water advisory and what it entails:
Background
A Precautionary Boil Water Advisory was declared due to the loss of water pressure in the system resulting from a watermain break. A boil water advisory requires you to take the following steps:
–Bring your water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, including drinking, making infant formula and juices, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice;
–Wash dishes with boiled water that has been cooled or use potable water from an alternative source; and all water taps must be posted, indicating that the water is not safe to drink.
The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect until the city obtains satisfactory drinking water results in two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.
