Municipal clerks to lobby for voters list improvements

Whatever the method – in person, by phone or on the internet – it was a challenge for some of us to be able to vote in last week’s municipal election.

The voters list is compiled by Elections Ontario. What frustrated a lot of voters is that their information on the list was incomplete or old and dated.  As Cochrane municipal clerk and returning officer Cassandra Child says, that presented a frustrating situation of trying to get it corrected.

“I know many clerks will be lobbying – especially towards Elections Ontario – to see what we can do to make better changes and a better experience for all electors in the 2030 election,” she states.

Successful candidates in this year’s election will be sworn into office later this month.
