Horseback competitions and heritage all weekend at the Polar Bear Habitat

The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is hosting Heritage Days and the Western Gaming Show this Saturday and Sunday.

Habitat manager Amy Baxendell says it runs from 9:00am to 5:00am.

“This is actually the 20th anniversary of the Heritage Village, so we’re doing a bigger and better Heritage Days,” she adds. “We have over 14 vendors and demonstrators coming as well as of course the NBHA Western Gaming Show. So we have riders and competitors coming from all over Northern Ontario.”

Admission to the Habitat is free all weekend. Baxendell says the usual stars, Ganuk and Henry the polar bears will also be around.

“For everyone when they attend they walk around the enclosures to get back to the Heritage Village and then on your way back to the front as well.  So you’ve got plenty of opportunities to experience the event as well as the bears.”
