If the Empire Complex has to come down, will it interfere with connecting link work?

City Hall’s director of growth and infrastructure, Scott Tam, says if the Empire Complex has to be demolished, it might interfere with connecting link reconstruction and removal of the overpass.

“Until I have further discussions with the fire department when they have the scene under control, then we can work together to figure out what path forward we can take to get things moving back along,” Tam tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

However, he says technically, it wouldn’t delay anything.

“We would establish everything as planned, like especially the detour routes, all that stuff, we would do the staging,” Tam explains. “Again, with the weather also, may hinder a little bit of what type of work that can be started or re-prioritized in the grand scheme of things.”

In addition to removing the old rail overpass literally steps from the Empire, this summer’s connecting link work involves Algonquin between Balsam St. and Brunette Rd.
