NOAWS in need of cat supplies

It’s all about cats lately, for the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society.

Acting president Tasha Eddy says cats and kittens have been flooding into its care and will increase as spring takes hold and the strays have their litters.

So NOAWS is asking for public donations of cat food and litter.

Eddy says her group prefers more protein-packed food.

“Some of our favourites are Canadian Naturals, any of the Performatrin brand kitten foods are really well accepted by our kittens,’ she itemizes. “They’re a little easier on heir tummy when they’re transitioning from nursing moms onto solid foods.”

Also needed are more homes to foster and adopt. Eddy says it’s been a rough year for adoptions.

“We’ve had some cats and kittens that have been with us for well over a year; some kittens that have grown up in foste3r care and are now six to nine months of age and older, and they came in as itty bitty little ones in the fall.”

For details on fostering, adopting, and providing food and litter… go to the NOAWS website. The society serves the area from Matheson to Cochrane, and into Timmins.
