Chamber and partners host connecting link update open houses

Two information sessions on Thursday will provide an update on what’s expected during connecting link reconstruction season in Timmins, which begins next week.

It’s a joint effort of the Chamber of Commerce, the BIA and city hall’s infrastructure department.

Chamber president Kraymr Grenke notes that this is the latest of many summers of necessary infrastructure work, this time between Balsam St.  and Brunette Rd.

“But we want to make sure that there’s minimal effect to the business community within the area,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, “as well as in the areas, obviously, that become detours as well, may see a little bit of uptick in traffic going through, but we want to make sure that it’s okay for them as well.”

Grenke says the first is an 11:00am-to-noon virtual session for the business community, followed by the second one, between 5:00 and 6:30pm at the museum.

“We look forward to working with our partners at the city to provide as much information as possible for the upcoming construction season.”

The most noticeable work planned for early in the season is removal of the underpass at Algonquin Blvd. and Spruce St., and levelling the roadway there to end flooding.

EDITORS’ NOTE: An earlier version of this story said the museum event is open to anyone.  It is also intended for the business community.
