National Francophone Immigration Week kicks off this weekend

National Francophone Immigration Week kicks off this weekend with events right across the region. Kapuskasing is hosting a cultural night this Saturday at the Centre de Loisirs featuring a fashion show and African dance.

There’s also an Africana choir in Hearst and a food tasting event in Timmins at College Boreal on Friday, Nov. 10.

“We’re we are going to be offering a cultural evening where we will be tasting the food of 10 different countries,” says Reseau du Nord Economic Development Agent Marie-Josee Tremblay.

She says these events allow many new Canadians to get and do something more than just work and school.

“More or less to welcome the newcomers to our community, also for them to create new links and to meet new people in the community and to create connections,” she said.
