Applications are open until August 16th, for the second annual Win this Space competition, put on by the Business Enterprise Centre and the BIA.
Business development consultant Mike Scott says it’s designed for home-based or small capacity businesses who want to make the move to a presence in the downtown.
The grand prize includes a voucher towards rent for a year to whatever space the winner settles on.
“If it’s more than they’ve been allocated,” Scott outlines, “they can pay the difference, and if it’s less than they’ve been allocated, they can redirect those extra funds towards another expense.”
Kinz and Klomp will forever have the distinction of winning the first ever “Win this Space” competition last year.
Scott says contestants are invited to workshops on formulating a business plan and financial projections.
The big finale is on December 5th, when the winner is announced.
“The week before that, we’re going to be doing the Dragon’s Den-style pitches. So that’s where the finalists will be pitching to the judging panel.”
