Ward 5 Timmins councillor Cory Robin wants to take a small step back into this past summer’s connecting link construction detour.
At the next council meeting, he will ask for a staff report on whether it’s a good idea to permanently revert to a three-way stop at Vimy Ave., where Mountjoy St. becomes MacLean Dr.
Robin lives in the area, and got the suggestion from his neighbours.
“That stop with the three-way there slowed the traffic going southbound on MacLean and made it easier to turn right or left from Vimy,” he suggests.
Robin believes it made driving safer and easier to walk in that area. Thus the request for a staff report.
“That will involve a traffic study and communicate with other departments to see if a stop sign on MacLean would actually be harmful,” he says. “But I need the evidence. I won’t just put stop signs up because I feel like it. I need something that says this is a good idea, and I need more than just me to do that.”
The next regular council meeting is January 17th.
