Living Space adds beds in collaboration with Ontario Native Women’s Association

In a joint effort with the Ontario Native Women’s Association, the Living Space homeless shelter has added beds.

Women’s Association branch manager Virginia Sutherland outlined the purpose at the official dedication, upstairs at Living Space.

“ONWA supported this expansion to have 15 beds, and we have five beds for our priority in terms of domestic violence or human traffic and other trauma situations,” she said.

Sutherland told the gathering that the space will also be used to bring social services and supports to clients, instead of making them walk all over the city to use them.

“Here in this space, we’ll have our case management, where our staff will come in and meet with the community members. And also this space  we’ll utilize it as our culture based activities here at this space.”

ONWA has also installed security cameras.
