Relief from the heat on the way

It’s day 3 of the heat warning issued by Environment Canada for the Hwy. 11 corridor from Hearst down through Timmins.

Environment Canada meteorologist Steve Flisfeder says temperatures have exceeded the threshold for such a warning of 29 degrees.

“We are expecting temperatures once again today (Mon.) to remain up into those upper 20s, possibly squeaking into the low 30s and then if you add the humidity, mid- to high 30s,” he prognosticates.

A cold front expected tomorrow (Tues.) will bring cooler, fresher air.  Flisfeder’s also predicting a couple of systems to move through Northern Ontario.

“With that,” he cautions, “a risk of thunderstorms and potentially some of those thunderstorms could become severe.”

Flisfeder suggests keeping an eye and an ear on a reliable weather source. We suggest Country 93.1 My Timmins Now Dot Com.

“Through the latter half of the week,” he adds, “(we’re) expecting temperatures to dip a little bit more through Wednesday, Thursday and then should be back on the rise to near normal temperatures of near 25 degrees Celsius through Friday, Saturday and into Sunday.”
