Traffic patterns change today, heading into construction on Algonquin Blvd.

Your Monday after-work commute will take a different route than the morning trip, if it usually includes Algonquin Blvd., between Thériault Blvd. and Mountjoy St.

In preparation for reconstruction to start this week the city’s chief administrative officer, Dave Landers, says it will close between Mountjoy and the beer store.

“Probably around lunch time,” he says, “and traffic will be rerouted either around through and using Commercial or through Vimy.”

Last year’s traffic lights at Wilson and Cameron will be back, and there will be lights at Commercial and Cameron and Commercial at Mountjoy.

A temporary four-way stop will be in effect on Vimy at Thériault, and a three-way stop at Chez Nous, on Vimy at Mountjoy.

Landers says the detours will be monitored.  If signage and other measures need to be changed to improve their efficiency, that will be done.
