Drug trafficking charges laid after hundreds of pounds of pot found

Almost 700 lbs of pot have landed two men in hot water. The Kirkland Lake OPP stopped a commercial vehicle just before 2 in the morning on Tuesday on Highway 11. They found the drugs in the car, worth around $1.7-million. A 46 year old man from Barrie and a 42 year old man from Alberta are looking at drug trafficking charges.

The following information is from the Kirkland Lake OPP:

The charges stem from a commercial motor vehicle stop on Highway 11, Eby Township.

The subsequent investigation led to the seizure of six hundred and eighty one pounds of cannabis marijuana with an estimated value of 1.7 million dollars.

The OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the OPP Canine Unit are still investigating.
