Facebook page could lead to you being in a locally shot movie in Timmins

The Timmins Economic Development Corporation has set up a Facebook page specifically to promote filming movies in the city.

Community economic development director Noella Rinaldo says there’s a production coming to Timmins in February and March, with a few other potential shoots. The Facebook page serves – among other things – as a place to find cast members.

“We actually have a casting call on there now,” Rinaldo notes. “We’re looking for a set of twin boys between the ages of ten to 14.”

It also lists locations that are needed. “We’re looking for an empty garage or empty warehouse that we can film a car scene in.”

One thing Rinaldo can’t divulge is what the movie is about.

“I’m hoping that we can announce soon,” she says, apologetically. “But the producers are in town next week. We’ve got five of them coming next week for a look around. I think of the people know. There’s been a buzz because we have a lot of locations in this movie and we’ve secured quite a few of them.”

One location is an arena, so you can bet that hockey has a role.
