Councillor wants muddy concert area at Hollinger Park fixed

Unavoidable mud is the side story of the Rock on the River music festival at Hollinger Park, the first weekend of October.

A deluge turned the concert area surface into a gigantic pool of mud.

City councillor Cory Robin has asked administration for a report on how the surface might be redone with a different material.

“Frankly, remove the mud,” he says. “We were all there in knee-deep mud. And that’s not conducive to having a community event place.”

Robin says as it is now, the concert area would only be able to be used once a year.  He wants it available for several events, giving the city full value for its investment so far.

“The residents who are tough as nails will come out to an event in the rain, with the mud.  But that’s not going to be a sustainable way to do business.”
