To Mayor George Pirie, Wednesday’s urban park opening is just one good sign that COVID-19 might be behind us.

He says he doesn’t anticipate a hiccup in Step 3 of reopening Timmins and getting back to business.

“I think we’re in good shape,” he commented to My Timmins Now Dot Com.  “I also think that we’re in good shape in relation to the masks and everything else. People have been very vigilant and I think they’re responded very, very well.”

The mayor also credit’s the city’s high vaccination rate with helping ease the pandemic situation.

“I think there’s a sense of relief and a sense of optimism and we need that.  So it’s great.”
