FONOM joins forces to advocate for the North

The North is getting into a better bargaining position when bringing issues to the province. That’s thanks to a new partnership between the Federation Of Northern Ontario Municipalities, the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association and the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association.

The three organizations will be meeting on a regular basis to talk about current issues from the northern perspective. They have already had their first meeting, in which they talked about common priorities.

They will work together to analyze long term and current northern problems. The collaboration should give the north more leverage when advocating issues to the province.

“By committing to communicate and share information on a regular basis, it will allow us to better position ourselves to effectively advocate to the Province,” says Mayor Al Spacek of Kapuskasing and President of FONOM.

The three organizations will meet again next month.
