Young resident wants skate park

If raising $4,500 in the first day of a go fund me campaign is any indication, there’s an appetite for a skate park in Timmins – in addition to the one at the Whitney Arena.

Seventeen-year-old Cameron Peever has started the BMX bikes, skateboards and rollerblades moving towards getting the park, possibly near the tennis courts on Pine Street South.

“I’ve always known that we needed a skate park here,” he says. “You’ve got to bike an hour away just to go to the one in South Porcupine there.”

It would be available for BMXers like himself, skateboarders and online skaters.  Peever assures there will be “no bias”.

Peever’s been in contact with Ward 5 Coun. Kristin Murray, who’s helping him come up with a plan and look for funding.
