Algonquin Blvd. rebuild begins Monday morning, exempt from shutdown order

Monday’s the day shovels go into the ground for the connecting link reconstruction on Algonquin Blvd.  And the stay-at-home order will have no effect on that.

City of Timmins director of public works and engineering Pat Séguin says it’s exempt from the construction shutdown.  That’s because it’s considered essential for its work replacing water and sewer lines, as well as rebuilding a critical transportation link.

Work starts just east of the bridge in the morning, on the Mattagami Blvd. intersection.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

By this fall, the entire length to Thériault Boulevard will be completed.
