Timmins Minor Hockey Association teams will play in April, maybe May

Minor hockey players in Timmins could be wearing shorts and flip-flops to late season games… as it goes into May.

The COVID-interrupted season will be back on the ice in April, and possibly May.  And the association will pay the winter rental rate for the ice, instead of the substantially higher summer cost.

City council has unanimously agreed to April.  However, before green-lighting May hockey, staff will talk to all ice users to see if there’s sufficient demand.  That will include whether to keep the McIntyre and Whitney arenas open; or take the ice out of one or both of them.  They’ve been the only city-owned arenas operating this winter
