Kashechewan’s Chief Derek Stephen has ordered a full evacuation of the First Nation community.
The Albany River is quickly rising, and the entire community will be out by Tuesday.
Over 300 evacuees are in Kapuskasing now. Mayor Al Spacek says Kap will be a hub.
“So they will fly from the community to here, be registered, and then placed on another airplane, probably a military airplane, and taken to places like either Cornwall or Ottawa.”
This is the fourth year in a row the First Nation reserve has had to be evacuated.
