Pop-up drive-in theatre confirms Timmins visit later this month with double feature

It took a couple of runs at it, but Sudbury-based Horizon Drive-in is bringing its pop-up movie screen to Timmins after all.

Owner Ben MacKenzie says a lot of interest from people in the city led to his company going back to City Hall to ask for the use of the Archie Dillon Sportsplex parking lot.  Together, they devised a plan for a double feature to happen on Friday, August 21st.

“Grease at nine o’clock and then It at 11:30,” MacKenzie notes.  “So we’re going to try to capture that old school kind of classic drive-in experience with Grease and then have a bit of horror, some fun for the younger generation out of Timmins.”

Tickets are on sale at the Horizon Drive-in website.

MacKenzie says tickets are available on the Horizon website.

“They’re $15 per show. If you want to stay for both shows, you’d have to buy them separately and then we also have fresh popcorn, cotton candy and beverages available to purchase.”

You probably don’t need to be reminded to bring a lot of insect repellent.

Moose 93.1 is a presenting sponsor of the August 21st event.
