Timmins Public Library summer reading club launches Monday – online this year

After winning an award for its TD Summer Reading Club last year, the Timmins Public Library is back in this year — only because of COVID-19, the club is all online.

Organizer Melissa Vieno says kids can sign up through the summer reading club website, and get everything they need.

“They’ll get their notebooks and they’ll be able to do their book reports online,” she tells us, “and there’s a whole bunch of other activities that they’ll be able to participate in on the website.”

The choice of reading material is up to each participant.  Vieno says hard copy books can be picked up curbside at the library.

“The kids can call us if they want to borrow some books, as long as they have a library card,”  she says. “We’ll be able to set a bag of books aside, a subject that they can chooser they can put their book on hold and we’ll be able to deliver it to them at curbside.”

E-books are also available on the library’s platforms.

All the details are on the summer reading Facebook page. Everything begins on Monday.
