Flood warning issued for Mattagami River

*UPDATE WED., JUNE 30, 12:30pm*:

The flood warning for the Mattagami River has been lifted. The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee says the water level has dropped, and minimal precipitation is in the forecast. However, the water in the Porcupine River and Porcupine Lake are still high, ando the committee says it presents a water safety risk.

A flood warning is in effect, as all the water that fell as rain this week continues to move through the Mattagami River system.

We got more than 120 millimetres of rain.  That’s almost five inches.

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee says it’s difficult to predict the extent of flooding. Its advice is to monitor your property along the river, make sure equipment and material are on high ground, and keep kids and pets away from the fast-moving water.
