Bisson working to secure city’s share of PPE

Timmins MPP Gilles Bisson is working with the province to make sure that the city gets all the personal protective equipment it needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city needs masks, gowns and gloves for paramedics, Golden Manor  and other workers.

The government controls the distribution, so Bisson says he’s been in touch with Solicitor-General Sylvia Jones to make sure Timmins is on the list to receive the next batch.

“And she assures me that that is being passed on to the appropriate authorities, so hopefully we should get some good positive news about securing PPE equipment for our facilities here in Timmins.”

He says institutions – the district hospital and city hall, for example – each do their own ordering.

“And I think that’s something we’re going to look at after all of this, Bisson states, “is that there needs to be some sort of central ordering for a community to be able to get all of their PPE in one place and distribute it according to need.”

Bisson says the legislature re-convenes next Tuesday to deal with legislation to extend the current state of emergency.
