BIA winter carnival adds dog demonstration

Early Saturday morning, city workers will be dumping snow onto Third Ave., between Spruce St. and Cedar St.

Seems backwards, but there’s a  purpose.  BIA executive director Noella Rinaldo says its winter carnival will now feature dog sled demonstrations by the Timmins Dog-Powered Sports Association.

“We’ve been working with our insurance company to be sure that it’s safe for everybody and we’re quite pleased with how it’s going to be set up”, Rinaldo outlines.  We’ll have barricades along the side so people can stand on the sidewalk and be able to watch the dogs running.”

“And we’re able to invite people to bring their dogs and try them on the harnesses and see if they might want to join the group.”

“The only thing we ask if that you bring your dog downtown on a non-retractable leash so that you can control your dog.”

The four-legged portion of festivities starts at 11:00am.
