Only the Timmins Chamber of Commerce could find a link between its annual business awards and the great outdoors.
The 2020 Nova Awards’ theme is “Camp Nova – the Nature of Business”.
This is the 18th year for the Novas. President Val Venneri says you don’t have to belong to the Chamber to win one of the 15 awards.
“You can nominate yourself. Other people can nominate you,” he explains. “We do not do the judging. The recipients are selected by a panel of community judges, independent from the Chamber.”
To go along with the camp theme, the McIntyre Arena will be decked out accordingly for the big gala on Thursday, May 7th.
“We think so. It should be good.”
And don’t worry. Venneri doesn’t expect any flying nuisances “No mosquitoes, it’s in May,” he says, with a laugh that could be heard from campground to campground.
Nominations are open in all 15 categories for the Nova Awards.
